Ashwin and Vihari had to combat pain and a hostile reception from the Australian players within the recently concluded SCG Test. As per the newest developments, middle-order batsman and all-rounder Vihari has been ruled out of the fourth and final match game of the high-profile Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Vihari will miss The Gabba match game thanks to a hamstring tear.
According to a PTI report, it’s been learned that Vihari was taken for multiple scans post his batting heroics against the mighty Aussies within the SCG Test. Though reports are expected to arrive latest by evening or on Tuesday in Sydney, the Indian all-rounder is probably going to be unavailable for selection. The report added that Vihari is unlikely to feature within the Indian squad for the britain series.
“The extent of Vihari’s tear can only be ascertained after the scan reports come through. But albeit it is a grade 1 tear, he’s out for a minimum of four weeks then will need some rehabilitation time. So it isn’t only Brisbane Test but also, he won’t be a neighborhood of England Tests reception ,” a BCCI source told PTI on Monday.
In Vihari’s absence, the Team India side led by stand-in skipper Rahane is probably going to feature Wriddhiman Saha as a wicketkeeper along side Pant (as a pure batsman) within the playing XI. Struggling opener Mayank Agarwal also can be handed another chance within the 4th and final Test at The Gabba.
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has been already ruled out of the Australia series is probably going to get replaced by pacer Shardul Thakur for the Gabba Test. Shardul was earlier in contention to play the SCG Test before the Indian think factory opted to go with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj with pacer Navdeep Saini.
